The hand truck is shaped like an L with the two wheels on the back corner, so all a person needs to do is slide the bottom pate under an item, then lean back at an angle with the weight on them making moving a simple task.

The second type of furniture dolly is the classic design, it is basically a flat square or rectangular board made of wood, metal or reinforced plastic with a set of wheels attached to the bottom on each of the corners. To use this furniture dolly you may need 2 people; one to lift up one side of the furniture item and the other to wedge the furniture dolly in the space beneath, once you get the hang of it this process is simple. This type of furniture dolly is best for flat-bottomed objects and anything that might be of an awkward shape that won’t fit on the hand truck trolley.

Finally the last type of furniture dolly is a little different in design to the previous two as it has no wheels; this device was made especially to work with houses that have wall to wall carpeting. Wheels tend to dig into the carpet and make moving heavy items almost impossible, so instead you could use a furniture coaster. It is basically made up of a large sheet of smooth material, which is positioned under the piece of furniture; the material is attached to several ropes which can be pulled allowing the item to slide over the carpeted floor with ease.
